Frequently Asked Questions

What is Acupuncture and how does it work?
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese Method of treatment that originated about 4,000 years ago.  The belief with traditional Chinese medicine is that energy, or qi (“chee”), is the basic life force present in all living things.  When a person is healthy physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, the qi runs freely through pathways in the body called meridians.

When we experience disease, emotional trauma, mental stress, physical injury, or have poor eating or sleeping patterns, it creates an imbalance in the flow of energy in the meridians.

Acupuncture works to regulate and harmonize the qi in the meridians and to help the body restore itself to a healthy state.  It is also used to prevent the development of illnesses.  The primary purpose of acupuncture therapies is to move energy.

What should I expect during a visit?
From the minute people walk into the front office, they comment on the immediate feeling of serenity that comes over them.  This acupuncture office has a very relaxing atmosphere with calming music playing softly in the background.  There are so many interesting articles and informational newsletters, that some clients arrive 15 minutes early just to sit, read, and enjoy a cup of green tea while they wait.  While being treated, the client relaxes in a private, comfortable room, with soothing music playing while allowing the healing process to begin.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, I feel that my training in Western medicine as a pharmacist, my Eastern training as an acupuncturist, along with the nutritional knowledge base, I am able to address an individual as a whole and offer the most thorough treatment option.

Does insurance cover acupuncture treatments?
This office does not bill insurance companies directly, but we will be happy to provide the client with documentation needed to submit for reimbursement.

Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes!!  We have Gift Certificates available for purchase at the office or they may be ordered  by phone and mailed with a minimal shipping fee.  They come with some type of healthful goody!!
